Mathias Pontoppidan

Mathias, a Danish national, has extensive experience across the investment ecosystem in India, collaborating closely with Scandinavian ESG pioneers. Currently, he supports Pontoka’s clients and advises investment companies (LPs and GPs) on ESG-related efforts.

Before founding Pontoka, Mathias advised Maersk Group’s management on their South Asian M&A strategy and guided one of India’s leading fintech companies, Jocata (owned by BillDesk), on their European expansion.

His previous roles include leading Investor Relations and Business Development for Karma Capital, one of India’s first equity hedge funds, and serving as Head of Cross-border for the Indian investment bank Cipher-Plexus Capital, specializing in M&A and private equity advisory. Additionally, he worked with Tecnova, an India-entry consulting firm, assisting North European companies with their Indian growth strategies.

Mathias began his career with LogicTree Capital, a Chennai-based hedge fund, and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Greenwich.
