Sangeeta Bansal I, who received a PhD in economics from the Indian Statistical Institute in 2003, has been a professor in Economics at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi since 2010, and she was an associate professor at JNU from 2004 to 2009. Her research interests lie in the area of environment and development economics, focusing on modeling green consumerism using game theoretic tools. Recently, she evaluated new seed technologies in Indian agriculture, and she is also interested in consumer and farmer behavior towards new technologies. She analyzed them using lab experiments and discrete choice experiments. Additionally, her work analyzed labeling policies in the context of environment and genetically modified crops. She serves as an associate editor of Resource and Energy Economics, and an editorial board member of Environment and Development Economics. She was awarded the 2013-14 Fulbright-Nehru Senior Research Fellowship to visit the University of California, Berkeley.
