Innovating Governance for a $30 trillion economy by 2047
India’s Viksit Bharat initiative seeks to take India towards a $30 trillion economy by the 100th year of its independence. Given that it is currently at around $3 trillion, it is seeking a tenfold growth in roughly the next quarter century. While this is ambitious, this is what India should aim for, and there is no reason why it cannot achieve this growth if it gets its mind into doing so. This session will take a wide spectrum view to understand what needs to be done for India to become a $30 trillion economy by 2047.

About our Speakers:
1. O.P. Agarwal – Dr O.P. Agarwal, a former Indian Administrative Service officer (1979-2007), held key government positions, including Joint Secretary roles in the Ministry of Personnel and the Ministry of Urban Development, where he authored India’s National Urban Transport Policy in 2006. He played a pivotal role in redesigning IAS mid-career training programs. Dr. Agarwal has also served as Secretary in various Assam state departments and worked with the World Bank as a global Urban Transport Adviser. He was the CEO of the World Resources Institute (2017-2022) and has written extensively on urban transport. He holds a PhD in Transport Economics from IIT Delhi and degrees from MIT and IIT Madras.
2. Shobhana Rana – Ms. Shobhana Rana is currently an Advisor on Content for Mission Karmayogi Bharat, overseeing the creation of high-quality e-learning content for capacity building within government structures. With over two decades of experience in international affairs, she has served with the United Nations in peacekeeping operations and held leadership positions in academia and the private sector.
3. Tushar Meshram: Tushar Meshram is currently working as a Chief Minister’s Fellow with the Gujarat Government. He is assigned to Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration in Ahmedabad, where he is involved in improving institutional capacity for training and learning, aimed at Class I and Class II officers of the state. He is an ISPP Class of 2020 alum of the PGP in Public Policy, Design & Management.
4. Nitika Meena – Nitika is a Program lead for the Schools of Specialised Excellence, Govt. of Delhi, at The Education Alliance. She has over 6 years of experience in the development sector, with a focus on education. Previously, she has worked with Eklavya Foundation managing projects towards improving government schools’ systems and teacher professional development in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. She is an ISPP Class of 2023 alum of the Understanding Government Executive Education Programme.
