R K Debbarma has been teaching at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Guwahati Off-campus since 2013. At TISS, he co-developed the MA programme in Peace and Conflict Studies in 2014, and Co-ordinated the Programme from 2014 to 2016. The Programme became a Centre in 2017, and he is currently the Chairperson of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies. Prior to this he looked after the Unit for Research and Development (URD) at the campus during 2019 to 2023. He has been instrumental in designing courses in political sciences, human rights, and peace and conflict for the undergraduate programme under the New Education Policy. He is one of the few faculties who teach across undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes. He had qualified for UGC Junior Research and completed his PhD in Political Science from University of Hyderabad in 2012. His research interests are political theory, peace and conflict studies and northeast India. He writes on issues of space, place and politics in the region.
